A new gastronomic concept has taken shape in Barcelona. Mextizo has open its doors so you can enjoy a healthy quality food and, even better, with a friendly and warm table service. The sort of moment that we lose sight of due to the stress and fast-paced rhythm of our lives. Mextizo is the opposite of the fast concept. Mextizo is flavor, eating well, living gently, focused attention; tradition and modernity, Mexico and the Mediterranean or, better said, Mexditerranean.
Adrián Marín, manager and chef of Mextizo, has created his gastronomic bet based in the concept that he named Mexditerranean cuisine. This concept is based in being able to choose between three different cooking styles: paella-style, barbecue grill-style and Mexican-style. Besides, it offers signature dishes created exclusively for Mextizo. All this conforms the Mexditerranean cuisine that you are able to enjoy right in the center of Barcelona.
To create our dishes, we only use locally sourced produce and ingredients present in the Mediterranean diet, such as vegetables, legumes, dried fruits, rice, olive oil, fish, or meat, among others. Both Mexican food and the Mediterranean diet are considered Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, and at Mextizo you can try both at the same time! When you try our food, we want your mind to travel in time and evoke stories, places, people, tastes (…) and that you keep the memory of that food in a special place in your mind, so that the souvenir of your taste buds remain unaltered over time, and that you remember that in Mextizo you ate well and were treat with excellence. We want you to keep wanting to come back every time you pay us a visit, we want you to feel at home in our place.
When Adrián Marín speaks, his palate’s memory travels, and reminds him of the charcoal grill at the Kaia-Kaipe restaurant in Getaria run by Igor Arregi, with whom Adrián has been friends for over twenty years. His palate’s memory also travels to the beaches of his hometown Castellón, where he savored so many paella-style rices. Lastly, his memory also goes back to his professional incursion in Mexico over the last three years, whose starters have captivated him and whose people he carries grateful memories of.
In the Mexican part of our Mexditerranean menu, you can find well-known and easy to savor dishes. You can share tacos, ceviches, canutillos or aguachiles, among other options. We do not intend to sophisticate Mexican food, but to present this well-known cuisine, make it tasty and delicious. Likewise, in the paella-style rice part of menu you can choose among its many varieties arroz caldoso con bogavante (a brothy lobster rice), the authentic paella valenciana, grilled vegetables rice, black rice with cuttlefish and goosefish, arroz a banda, fideuá (Spanish vermicelli) with calamari, oven-rice with chickpeas and pig trotters. Due to our way of cooking, the rice dishes can be served individually, despite in Spain rice is usually cooked for a minimum of two people. Last but not least, in in our barbecue grill menu you can have your fish grilled whole, just like in the Basque Country, and you can choose between turbot, seabass or gilt-headed bream, or clams with (spicy) guindilla olive-oil. You can also have rib eye steaks with lodosa peppers, grilled mussels, allioli octopus and grilled potatoes, Palamós prawns, grilled lobster with crunchy vegetables cannelloni – among other options. Besides, at Mextizo we have our own signature dishes, which we prefer not to reveal so that you can be even more surprised when you decide to visit us. Last but not least, we also offer a great variety of cocktails!

A spacious and light room with indoor terrace that is the perfect venue for special moments. At Mextizo we took seriously every single detail, going beyond interior design. We are proud to say our barbecue grill is authentic from Getaria, from the same workshop where the best Spanish grills are made; or that our fishmonger has been the same for over seventeen years, having become not only our supplier but our friend.
